Job Roles

Matthew Johnson
  • Camera Operator
  • Director
  • Location Scout
  • Titles
Matt has been given these roles as we felt he was the best for these sort of roles. Matt has been given the camera operator role as he is using his own personal camera and by doing our preliminary task we have seen that Matt is the best at using the camera and keeping a steady hand and knows all the techniques to use when using a camera. Also Matt did most of the work on the storyboard which is showing the types of shots to use so it makes sense to give Matt the role of the camera operator as he has the image in his head from the storyboard of what they shot should look like. Matt has also been given the director role as he is not acting in the film where as Zak and Liam are. This is why Matt has been delegated the director role as he is directing Zak and Liam during the filming. Matt has also been given the role of location scout, Matt was the first person to find a suitable location and also Matt ran the risk assessments at the farm he found and this is why Matt has been given this role. Matt will also be in charge of making the titles in our film, Matt did some research into titles and knows what would work best for our production and also being the director this would help as he would know where appropriate to put the titles in the film.

Zak Munton
  • Lighting
  • Mise-en-scene director
  • Make Up
  • Actor
Zak has been given the role as the mise-en-scene director as Zak did the research into the mise-en-scene and decided on the key mise-en-scene features and his job will be to ensure the mise-en-scene features are used and that they all look professional. He has also been given the job of making all the planning is up to date and to a good enough standard to achieve a high grade for the planning as it all contributes to the final grade. He has been given this role as Zak has done lots of research into the mise-en-scene in thriller films and this is why we gave Zak the responsibility of taking this role on. Zak has also been given the role of making the lighting look low-key to fit the typical conventions of a thriller. Although the natural light will be present outside we have to try and use low-key lighting when possible. Zak has decided that when the editing stage is taking place that we play around with the filters which could help make the lighting look low-key but it has to look professional. Zak is also part of the make up, his job is to ensure that the make up is safe to use and that he brings all the make up to the location on the day of shooting. We aren't using much make up, all we need is fake blood to help show the brutality of a murder. Another role Zak has been given is an acting role where he will be playing the victim. This is because Zak is a small and skinny person and this is a stereotypical physique of a victim in a thriller film so that's why Zak is playing the victim in our production.

Liam Rushton
  • Continuity
  • Sound
  • Casting
  • Actor
Liam has been given an acting role in this production and will be playing the role of a killer, we have decided this because compared to Zak who is playing the victim, Liam is a lot broader and bigger than Zak. This is why Liam is the killer has he has the stereotypical physique of a killer. Although Liam may not look like a stereotypical killer, this shouldn't create any problems as the killer's identity will be hidden for the majority of the production. Although Liam is acting within the production he will be making sure the filming and everything else within our production is running smoothly and that everything is progressing. We all have a good idea of the storyline and especially Liam, who will be helping Matt with the camerawork and making sure the film looks professional and is at a good enough standard to achieve a good grade. Liam is also taking the role of the sound within our thriller, Liam did a lot of research into sound in thrillers and analysing clips and the sound that occurs at certain points of the clips and he has taken that into consideration when choosing and creating sound for our production, that is why he has taken on that role. Liam also chose the casting and decided who plays what and he chose it very wisely by taking into consideration the stereotypes and conventions of thrillers.
